Introduction to Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) offers a practical, hands-on exploration of cutting-edge AI technologies with applications in software development, hardware design, Internet of Things, systems engineering, and beyond. Students will gain foundational knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud, including deploying GPU-enabled virtual machines and utilizing the Azure OpenAI service to access models via Jupyter Notebooks and HTTP APIs. Emphasis will be placed on open-source tools and the implementation of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). Topics include leveraging LLMs for code generation, debugging, and explanation. The course culminates with student-led projects and discussions on emerging trends, providing a comprehensive blend of technical expertise and practical application in AI technologies. This course is ideal for students aiming to integrate LLMs into complex engineering systems and workflows. Offered by Electrical & Comp. Engineering. May not be repeated for credit.
