An introduction to probabilistic risk assessment methods as applied to nuclear power plants. Students will receive hands-on experience in PRA methods by designing and building a PRA model for an operational nuclear power plant. Students will use state-of-the-art software to design a nuclear plant model, using event trees, fault trees, industry failure and unavailability data, and current human reliability analysis methods. Using the completed model, students will calculate and use appropriate risk metrics in typical applications.
